Make it Tight
By Carl Seville
Not too wet, not too dry, just right: if only Goldilocks knew what to look for in a house.
Seville Consulting, founded by Carl Seville, provides green building consulting services for homeowners, contractors and architects, and conducts green building training and education seminars for the building and remodeling industries.
Seville, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in Architecture and Design, founded Atlanta-based design/build remodeling firm SawHorse, Inc. and served as its Vice President for over 25 years. When he started SawHorse, design/build was a new concept for the home remodeling market. Seville saw that this new, comprehensive turnkey approach had significant value for homeowners. By providing innovative practices and outstanding quality in every aspect of service — design, planning, construction, business practices and customer service — he and his partner built SawHorse into the region’s premier remodeling firm.
In 2004, through his growing involvement with EarthCraft House and Southface Energy Institute, two nonprofit organizations dedicated to green building and living, Seville changed direction. He now dedicates his time to creating a bridge between the theory of green building and its real-life applications. In his words: “This is the future.”
While still involved with SawHorse in various partnering capacities, Seville is committed to advocating, training, writing and, of course, consulting with clients about the value, benefits and application of green building practices to specific projects.
